Marios Koukounaras-Liagkis studied Theology (ΒΑ, ΜΑ, PhD) Greek Literature (BA), and Social Pedagogy (PostDoc). He is an Assistant Professor of Religious Education at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He was elected as Director of the Laboratory of Pedagogy and Religious Education of the NKUA in 2019. He worked as a Religious Education teacher and as a Consultant to the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs.
He is an expert member of the European Wergeland Centre and he has a teaching and research cooperation with UCL-Institute of Education and University of Birmingham.
His research interests are in Religious Education (learning and teaching), Curriculum, Teacher’s professional development, Human Rights, Inclusive Education and Drama/Theatre in Education. His publications include 7 books and a numerus of articles published in international and Greek peer reviewed journals.
